Facebook recently announced that they added a new reaction (care) to its list of reactions. Previously, we only have 6 reactions available: like, love, haha, wow, sad and angry. But due to the Covid-19 crisis, this is one of Facebook’s ways to allow us to show compassion.
This new reaction is great as it allows us to react to stories and news related to Covid-19. However, some users quickly realized that not all users have this reaction. If you’re one of them, here’s what to do.
What is the Care Reaction in Facebook?
Due to the pandemic that we’re currently facing, a lot of people are stuck in their respective homes. Facebook has come up with a new way for people to show that they care to their loved ones and friends – the care reaction.
This new emoji reaction is designed as a regular smiling emoji hugging a heart. This is for the Facebook app. But for the messenger app, there’s a separate reaction that you can use which is the pink and purple heart.
This has been tweeted by Facebook’s Tech Communications manager: "We're launching new care reactions on @Facebookapp and @Messenger as a way for people to share their support with one another during this unprecedented time. We hope these reactions give people additional ways to show their support during the #COVID19 crisis."
To use these brand-new reactions, just hold down the like button and select the care reaction from the list. The care react is third from the list.
As for the messenger app, you just hold down the message that you want to react to and select the pink and purple heart from the list.
How to Get the Care Reaction in Facebook?
Millions of people have recently scoured the internet searching for ways to get this new reaction. However, Facebook has been spammed with fake news on how to get these which prompts you to comment some fake hashtags and share to groups. Don’t do this as you will only get likely be flagged as spam by Facebook. Try these ways:
- Update your Facebook app and messenger.
- Uninstall your Facebook app and messenger. Then, install them again.
- Wait patiently!
If the above ways don’t work for you, it’s likely that it’s not yet available to you. In this case, the best thing to do is just wait. Facebook launched the care reaction to some countries first and they’re gradually rolling it out to the rest of the world. Just be patient and it will eventually be available to your account.
Facebook came up with a pretty unique way for people to show love amidst this crisis. If you don’t have the care reaction yet, don’t panic as you’ll eventually get it provided you already followed the steps above!
